2003 Comes To An End
2003 has been a different kind of year for me. If I had to come up with an event that has shaped the year, I don’t think I could. In 2002, I got a full-time job, moved off-campus, and graduated from college, which were all rather large steps in my life. 2003 has been kind of dull and boring. (...)

Drill Another One
Just got back from the dentist…AGAIN! I had another big cavity filled to use up the rest of my dental insurance for the year. I hate going to that place, but it’s my own damn fault. If I would take better care of my teeth, I wouldn’t have these problems. (...)

Enjoying My Break
I’ve been enjoying my holiday break a great deal. At the same time, I miss being back in Saginaw at my apartment, but this is a nice little get-away. I’ve been sleeping in until at least 10 every morning and I didn’t even leave the house yesterday. The big project yesterday was to get a page up with poker chip tricks tutorial, and so far the page is getting a lot of attention. (...)

Miserable Failure
I found this little tidbit while browsing the web and couldn’t resist posting it. If you search for the words miserable failure on Google, the very first result is the Biography of President George W. Bush. Makes you wonder if someone at Google wrote some code to make this happen on purpose. Pretty funny however it happened. (...)

Poker Chip Tricks Tutorial
When I was learning how to do tricks with my poker chips, I had a hard time finding information on the different tricks. In order to help others in the future, I’ve created a page with explanations and videos for the tricks that I know how to do. The tricks are: Chip Flip (Front to Back) Knuckle Roll Chip Twirl Shuffle Poker Chip Tricks Tutorial (...)

A Good Birthday
Overall it was a good birthday, but not that much different than any other day. I woke up around 11:00, when Heather and Isaac gave me their gifts. Isaac got me some Coors Light stuff and Heather got me a new basketball and a spare battery for my camera, which was pretty sweet. Jere came over around 12:30 and we played a few games of March Madness on XBOX. I kicked his ass! (...)

I Don’t Feel Any Older
Officially I’m 24 now, but it doesn’t feel any different. To me it’s just another day. The only big difference is that mom makes me a cake and I get a few presents. No real big plans for the day except to probably go out to eat with the family. (...)

Christmas Tradition
Every year on Christmas Eve we have a tradition that we follow. Around 5:00 we start off with crab legs for supper. After everything is cleaned up, we open our stockings. For the past few years dad has been in charge of the stocking stuffers and we have a little joke with it. He goes to the dollar store and picks up cheap little things and usually a few lotto tickets. (...)

12 Days of Christmas
I was done working at noon today (the President of SVSU gave us a half day off) and now have 12 days of free vacation time. It’s one of the perks of working for a University. (...)

Benjamin John Momrik
I have a new cousin! My Uncle Mike (my dad’s youngest brother) and Aunt Ann had a baby boy Sunday, December 21st. They named him Benjamin John. After all was said and done he weighed 9 pounds 10 ounces, stretched 23 inches, and had a head full of dark hair. Someone get a basketball in his hands! (...)

Holiday Spirit
This year is like no other for me in terms of the holiday season. Usually I’m more concerned about me and what I’ll be getting for gifts instead of concentrating on everyone else. This year has been just the opposite. One thing you may have noticed is the title of this post. (...)

Mighty Lions
Yesterday the Detroit Lions set the NFL record for consecutive road losses with their 24th in a row. I looked at the box score and they had a total of 106 yards on offense! These guys are supposed to be professions? The best in the world at playing football? I’ll continue to be a fan, but holy shit do they suck! (...)

Everything Validates!
My entire website is now valid XHTML 1.1! I just finished going through all of the code for the photoblog. It took quite awhile because there are sooo many files with the Gallery software and they are really spread out. I downloaded a program called NoteTab Pro to help me with some of the code replacement and it worked great. (...)

Validate This
I spent the majority of the day modifying my pages to use valid XHTML 1.1 and to use tableless layouts. Everything is completed except for the photolog pages. I removed the tables from my design, but the Gallery software uses tables for a lot of the positioning, which I am not going to change. I will however be attempting to modify the code to be valid XHTML 1.1 like all of my other pages. (...)

Taste In Music
Last night at the bar (after the work holiday party) we had a little discussion about tastes in music. I admitted there are some country music songs that I like and will listen to. Bill then argued that because of this, I like country music. I do not like country music! If a person eats tacos, does that mean they like Mexican food? I don’t think it is justification. (...)

Eat & Get Fat Day
Tomorrow has been labeled “Eat & Get Fat Day” at work. We are all bringing some type of food to snack on throughout the day. Mom was down last weekend and brought me big back of chex-mix so that is what I’m taking. I can’t bake or make anything great, so I’m taking the easy way out. (...)

Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King
I just got back from seeing “The Return of the King” a bit ago. It was a great movie, but a bit too long. It was about 3 and a half hours long, which should have been shortened. For the last half hour they kept fading away in scenes and everyone kept getting up, but then another scene started. (...)

Only A Handful
We only had 5 guys tonight and the other team had 8, but we won easily. I think we ended up winning 42-28 or something close to that. At the end of the game we were moving pretty slow. It was the team chemistry that really made the difference tonight. Almost all of our shots were wide open (a lot of layups) and we played good defense. (...)

Home Poker Tournament Rules
I’ve run a few home poker tournaments (playing no-limit Texas Hold’em) and they’ve went quite well. I figured someone else could benefit from the rules and setup that I use. My rules/setup is a compilation from various things I found on forums, newsgroups, and websites. (...)

What Next?
When I started redesigning the site a little over a month ago, I had a plan (which changed several times) mapped out. That plan has now been completed and I have the basic pages up and running that I wanted to. So now what? For the past week or so I’ve basically only been tweaking a few things here and there. I haven’t really added any new pages. I don’t know what to do next. (...)
Missing From Google
Lately my site has been appearing and disappearing from Google, so I decided to try and find out why. Instead of trying to put the answer in my own words, I’ll just give a link to it. Go over here. (...)

Steve And Barry’s
Steve and Barry’s University Sportswear is my new favorite store! On the way back up from the game, we stopped at Great Lakes Crossing because I had heard about this store while listening to WIOG. EVERYTHING in the store was $8.98 or less! I bought a Michigan long sleeve T, a Tennessee long sleeve T, Duke T, shirt for work, Michigan hooded sweathshirt, and a small duffle bag. (...)

A Piece Of History
Yesterday, my dad, brother, and I were a part of basketball history. We attended the BasketBowl at Ford Field, where Michigan State lost to Kentucky 79-74, in front of 78,129 people; the largest crowd in basketball history (at any level of play). I bought the tickets as Christmas gifts to them and we had a good time. (...)

Another Loss
We had our 2nd game for Basketball league tonight. We lost 54-51. I think I had 15 or maybe 17 points. We were down by 10 with under 3 minutes and made a nice little come back. I hit 2 three pointers in the last minute to pull within one and then fouled (they made both free throws), but we didn’t get a good shot off at the end of the game. (...)

Hamoudy’s Weblog
My friend Mohamad now has a weblog running at his site. You can access his weblog with the link in the weblog links section on the right side of this page. I’ve been helping him get his site setup and getting some of the things running with his hosting company. It feels good to help someone out and see the fruits of my (and his) labor. (...)

Let The Shopping Begin
I finally started my Christmas shopping today. I’ve been dreading going to the stores, but it wasn’t all that bad today. After work I changed and then went to swipe the credit card a few times. I picked up gifts for my mom, sister, and friends. I never really waited in line anywhere and didn’t run into any crazy shoppers attempting to run me over. (...)

Good As New
I just finished rebuilding my computer, which in simple terms means that I cleaned off the hard drive, reinstalled Windows XP and all of my programs. I had been way overdue. Usually I try to rebuild it about every 6 months, but this time it had been over a year!! (...)

I just read a very interesting article by Vince Barnes of HTML Goodies. Three Golden Rules Intriguing title, don’t you think? We’ll get to them in just a second. First, let’s take a quick look at the “coming to life” of your website. (...)
My New Digital Camera
I finally have the new digital camera in my hands. I picked it up from the leasing office when I came home for lunch. It’s a pretty sweet little camera. I’m not real big on taking pictures, so getting a small camera was my number one priority in deciding on one. I wanted a camera that was digital for obvious reasons (insert geek comment). (...)

I don’t know how they are doing it, but a company called 1&1 is offereing a special promotion giving out 3 years of web hosting for free to those who sign up. I have signed up and moved my momrik.com domain over to their site. Everything is all setup and I’m able to access my site already. (...)

Opportunity
Just a couple of quotes that fit the day I had… “Opportunity is missed by most people because it comes dressed in overalls and looks like work.” -Thomas Edison “Doors of opportunity don’t open, they unlock; it is up to you to turn the knob.” -Lily Taylor “Too often, the opportunity knocks, but by the time you push back the chain, push back the bolt, unhook the two locks and shut off the burglar alarm, it’s too late.” -Rita Coolidge Singer (...)

Duke Smoked Michigan State
The Blue Devils really put it to the Spartans tonight! What a great game to watch for a Duke fan (me). Jeff came over, we got some pizza, had a few beers, and watched the game on the big screen. Only another week and a half and I’ll be at Ford Field for the biggest basketball game in history (over 75,000 tickets sold) when MSU and Kentucky play. (...)

Days Of December
The last month of the year is full of events for me. Here in Michigan, we usually get snow staying on the ground at some point during the month and winter officially begins on the 22nd. Have I ever mentioned that I hate winter? 65-70 degrees outside is the ideal temperature for me. Here in Michigan we are rarely above 30 or 40 during the winter months. (...)

4 Overtimes
We lost our first game tonight in the 4th overtime. We pretty much got screwed by the refs the entire game, but we also had our chances to win. To be honest, we played horrible and still should have won the game. I think we lost 56-46, and don’t even know if we scored at all in that 4th OT. It was only the first game, so I’m not worried, but am still kind of pissed. (...)

Screwed At Hooters
As has become a recent tradition, Jeff, James, and I all went to Hooters for the Monday night specials and the nice “scenery”. A local radio station is always there to give out prized and make it a little interesting. Joe (radio guy) asks for volunteers for a game, so the 3 of us volunteer as a team. As we walk to the middle of the restaraunt, Joe hands me a condom. (...)

Performance Evaluation
I had my 6 month performance evaluation this morning and it went well. My boss praised me for being such a good employee and all that good stuff. We talked about some of my goals for the future, when I informed him that I’ve been looking for a new job for the past month or two. (...)
