Golf At Boyne Highlands
Just a quick update to say that I golfed on the Heather course at Boyne Highlands today. We only played 9 holes though because the rain really started to come down. I was on a scramble team with my Dad and our team took first out of the three teams. -3 for nine holes in those conditions was pretty good. My putter was right on target the whole time. Now I just need to fix my golf swing! (...)

Top 10 May 2004 Searches
At the end of each month (I’ve decided this is the last month I am posting this), I post a list of the top 10 keyword combinations (searches) that visitors have used in a search engine to get to my site. It’s not a popularity list, because “poker chip tricks” and every possible way to search for that would dominate my top 10. (...)

Angels & Demons
Another great book by Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code. I read the majority of the book on the flights to and from Sacramento, and finished up the rest last night. It was another page turner with a lot of suspense. Just like the previous book I read by Brown there was a lot of code breaking which I really liked. (...)

If Things Look Funny…
Over the next week I’ll be making a lot more tweaks to the design of the site. If you notice anything that looks funny or out of place, leave a comment so I can check it out. Currently I’m using Firefox and IE 6 for testing, so if you are using another browser let me know how the site looks. Update: Header images for the GanGreen the BluePrint styles are up! (...)

The Sacramento Trip
Here’s a recap of my trip to Sacramento… Sunday Flew out of Detroit at about 5 PM ET, had a connecting flight in Phoenix, and landed in Sacramento around PM PT. Rented a car, checked into the hotel, and just crashed for the night. Nothing exciting. Monday First day of class (9-4:30). (...)

May Contain Peanuts
Have you ever looked at the wrapper of a Snickers bar or another candybar? They usually say “May contain peanuts” for whatever reason. Well, it looks like the airlines have taken it a step further with the little bags of peanuts that they give out on flights. (...)

Halo: The Flood
Great book if you liked the XBOX game Halo, but then again, who doesn’t like that game? As I was reading the book I could recall the exact places in the game that they were mentioning. It makes me want to beat the game again (for like the 5th time). What I really liked about the book was that I learned about all of the action that happened away from Master Chief on the planet Halo. (...)

Have A Safe Flight
My buddy Case just said, “have a safe flight” on IM. I know we are just being polite and thoughtful when we say it, kind of like, “drive safe.” But…on an airplane do we really have any control over how safely we arrive at our destination? Just a thought… (...)

The Photos Are Missing
They weren’t kidnapped, I just got fed up with using Gallery to manage my photos, so I ditched it. I’ve found something that looks pretty sweet and should be a nice replacement. Markku is developing a PHP-based application for publishing photos and I like the looks of it. He is either caling it iPAP or SPAM, I’ve seen it called both in different places. (...)

Off To Sacramento
Later today I’ll be taking off for Detroit and then flying out to Sacramento, CA. I haven’t done laundry or packed a thing, so I’ve got a few things on my “To Do List” for this morning! For the next week, the site will be a little “dead”, but I do have dial-up access in the hotel so I’ll check things at least once a day. (...)

2004 WSOP
The first day of the No-Limit Hold’em World Championship has just started play at Binion’s Horseshoe Casino. For a buyin of $10,000 you could have been sitting there with AA on the first hand. The tournament should last until Thursday or Friday when the champion will receive well over $2 million! Will there be another story like Chris Moneymaker. (...)
It’s Out!
The final release of WordPress 1.2 is available now. Get it while it’s hot! I’ve already upgraded my site. There are just a ton of new features and since they’ve been discussed elsewhere, I won’t waste my time trying to do it here. (...)
Hit And Run
While leaving the mall today, Isaac, Brit, and I heard a crunch and saw someone hit a another car backing out. We were parked like 2 cars away and I looked the guy right in the eyes for a few seconds and then he drove away. I should have ran after him and took out my cell phone like I was calling the police with his license plate number. (...)

Matching Google Ads
So you want your Google Ads to match the rest of your page, but you have a style switcher. All of the sudden your green colored ads (that match your green style) don’t match the pretty pink style. See the problem? You may have noticed that my Ads change with the style. Here’s how I did it… Yes, I know it’s not an elegant solution, but it works. (...)

Pistons - Goin’ To Work
What a performance by version 2 of the Bad Boys. They completely dominated tonight’s game with their defense. Ben Wallace never ceases to amaze me, but he pulled out a few suprises tonight with 18 foot jumpers. After winning the first two games of the series I thought the Pistons would coast through round 2, but the Nets won the next 3 to pull ahead. (...)

Weight Watchers
A friend/co-worker, Bill, has joined Weight Watchers to help him lose weight. He’s been working at it for 2 or 3 months and only 5 pounds have come off, so he decided to get some help. I’ve always wondered about these types of groups, but it is paying dividends for numerous people here at SVSU. I know several people who have lost 20-30 pounds and are looking great. (...)

You Might Be A WordPress Junkie If…
You have more than 5 folders on your web space that begin with “wp-”. (There are only 4 included in the distribution, but I have 7.) You know that a post-slug is not an insect or a shotgun shell. You know what the WordPress Wiki is and where to find something in it. You check the WP CVS at least once a day for updated files. You know at least two of the developers by their domain name. (...)

Enough Posts About The Site!
I haven’t posted much lately about what I’ve been up to, so here it is… As you can probably tell I’ve spent a lot of time over the past 5 days working on the site. I’m happy with the outcome and will be taking some time off. I say that, but it never really happens. Golf season is in “full swing” now and Mother Nature seems to be playing nice again. (...)

What I Look For In A Blog
How does a site make it into my Weblogs I Read link list? Friends This is the easiest way because I’m definitely going to read up on what my friends have to say. At the same time though, my friends can’t have a garbage site and expect me to visit often. Design You must have a good design. I don’t want to see 20 different colors of text. (...)

Aplus.Net Web Hosting
Aplus.Net recently upgraded their web hosting plans and they did one hell of a job. The Solo XR plan had previously been rated #1 by CNET and now the plan is even better! I’ve been paying for the Pro plan because I needed PHP and MySQL, which are now both included in the Solo XR. I’ve already made a request to downgrade my plan since Pro is $19.95/month and Solo XR is $9.95. (...)

The Butt Slices
What did the butt of the bread ever do to you? Sure, it moons you each time you open the bag to take a few slices, but does it really have a choice? Troy
I went to see it last night with my friends Hater and Casey. Awesome movie! All of the previews being played lately do this movie justice. Make plans the next night you are free to go see this movie. The acting was very well done and Brad Pitt played one of his best roles ever as Achilles, the great greek warrior. I learned some valuable history tidbits from this movie which was pretty cool. Water Logged
Golf league was interesting tonight. It was sprinkling at the beginning of the round and wasn’t bad at all for about 4 holes. On the 5th and 6th it really started to come down though! We figured that we were already soaked, so we might as well keep playing, especially since we were scoring well. Three times I had to adjust my swing on the way through because the club would have went flying. (...)

The Last Samurai
I remember seeing the movie trailers on TV and thinking, “Tom Cruise as a samurai!” I thought the movie was going to be a joke, but I was wrong. It was a really good movie. Tom did a great job, but Ken Watanabe may have done even better in his role as the Lord of the Samurai. I learned a lot about their way of life…the dedication, the discipline, and the belief in what they did. (...)

Time For A Design Change
It’s been over 6 months since I’ve been running my blog, which also means 6 months for the design. It’s time for a change! Rain, Rain, Go Away
I always thought it was “April showers bring May flowers.” It has rained almost every single day in May so far. It helps out the golf season in the long run, but prevents it from really kicking off. Thursday was my first time out and I shot a 49, which wasn’t too bad for not having swung a club yet this year. Then I went out Friday with Jere and Steph and shot a 51. (...)

What’s In A Post Title?
The title of a post can be very important. A good title may catch a visitor’s eye and spark their interest to read the post. That reader may like what they read and become a regular visitor. Sit & Go Success
After the worst losing streak of my UB career, I’ve switched from playing .25/.50 limit hold’em to playing $5+.50 no limit hold’em sit & go tournaments. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
I’m not a big fan for old time war movies so I’ll try to review this movie for it’s value and not on personal taste. With that said, it’s a good movie, but not “The best movie of the year” as the cover claims. Russell Crowe did an excellent job as Captain Jack Aubrey, or “Lucky Jack” as his crew referred to him. Kill Bill: Volume 1
I was pleasantly suprised by how good this movie is. I wasn’t looking for much after the previews I’ve seen, but I should have known better for a Quentin Tarantino film. The story revolves around Uma Thurman’s character, “The Bride.” She once was part of an assassination crew, who turned and attempted to kill her on her wedding day. (...)
