Who Is Mark?
Mark, who are you? You’ve sent me an email through the contact page several times about poker chip tricks, but have never left a valid email address. This makes it a little hard to respond. Simply read the comments about the tricks and you would realize I’m working on a new site and I do know a lot of new tricks. Patience… (...)

Each year, Diego Golberg’s family photographs themselves on July 17th. One of the coolest family rituals I’ve ever come across, especially since it’s on the web for everyone to see. A real living history in photos. (...)

Rudely Interrupted
Ding-Dong. The sound of the doorbell startles me a bit, because I don’t hear it often. “I’m not expecting any company. At least not until after midnight when Mom and Dad will be getting into town,” I think to myself, getting out of my comfy leather office chair. “I wonder who it is.” I walk to the door and realize it must not be anyone I know. (...)

Scramble vs. Best Ball
There is a common misconception among golfers that scrambles and best ball tournaments are the same. Some even say “best ball scramble,” but there really is no such thing. The guy (or gal) who came up with the terminology must have been drunk or crazy, because both are very misleading. (...)

What To Do In Philly?
I’ll be going to Philadelphia from August 15th to the 20th to take an SQL training class for work. Has anyone been there before? I’ll be in class until 4:30 or 5:00 each day, but I need some things to do at night. Where are the hot spots and what are the must sees? (...)

Twelve Is The New Eleven
Ocean’s Twelve, the sequel to Ocean’s Eleven isn’t due out for months, but I dying to see it. Ocean’s Eleven is one of my favorite movies and the entire cast of Ocean’s crew is back for the second installment. There is a trailer out, but it doesn’t give any actual scenes from the movie, which I think is pretty cool. It helps to build up the anticipation. (...)

Carthik has started a site for WordPress news. It’s called WordLog and sounds like a great idea. I’ve added it to the links section of my sidebar so that I can tell when it’s updated. I’m not quite sure what “Alpha Users” are, but I’m listed there. (...)
Online Marriage Proposal
I wonder if anyone has ever proposed to their woman online. Picture it like this…you have a blog, which your girlfriend checks every few days. You decide to post your marriage proposal on the web for her to read. A few days later, she checks your site and SURPRISE! I’m sure it’s already been done or will be done soon enough. Not very romantic though. (...)

Golf Is Fun Again
While the site was down the for the past few days I’ve figured out my golf game. On Thursday night for league, I shot a 38, finally getting into the 30’s for the first time this summer. It was long overdue! Then this weekend I want to Sterling Heights to visit Jere for a few days. We played 18 yesterday and it was my best 18 hole score ever. (...)

Bourne Supremacy
Great movie! I’m a Matt Damon fan to begin with, but he plays a great part in the Bourne series of movies. Damon is one of those guys you’d like to sit down in a bar and have a few beers with. He’s a great actor, but has that everyday guy image. Some of his other movies rank in my list of favorites. (...)

MtDewVirus Is Back
I’m sorry for the interruption in my sites over the last few days. I’ll take full blame since I didn’t plan the server move out very well at all. Things kind of hit and there wasn’t much I could do at that point. Over the next few days I’ll make sure that everything is still working properly, but if you find something that isn’t, please let me know. (...)

Tom Green
Does anyone know what happened to Tom Green? For awhile, he was on TV all the time. Maybe it’s just because I don’t watch much TV, except for poker. I can’t stand the guy, but I saw someone on a commercial that looked like him and it lit the lightbulb in my head. (...)

Sunday’s 18
We played Garland’s Monarch course and it was gorgeous! Some of the most beautiful golf holes I’ve ever played…by far! Some of the par 4s were pretty long, but the par 5s weren’t bad at all, if you could hit a decent drive. I would have taken some photos, but I was too busy swinging over 100 times on the day. It was a great day for golfing. (...)

I was cramming all night. Finally decided to get a little sleep at 6:30 AM and woke up again at 8 to study some more and get ready for the tests. 1.5 hours of sleep…not bad! I managed to get through all 193 pages of Microsoft ASP.NET Setup and Configuration Pocket Reference. A great little book for the price. (...)

Meet A Few MtDewVirus Visitors

Ever Kiss A Bee?
I did today, tongue and everything! I was riding the bike and a big bug flew in my mouth. It took a couple of seconds to get where I could spit it out. You want to talk about gross! Shortly after, I realized the stinging sensation on my tongue. The bee wasn’t in there long, but it made good use of it’s time. (...)

A Busy Week Means A Quiet Week
Just a warning that I have a very busy week ahead. On Friday I’m taking a couple of Microsoft certification tests, so all of my free time will be spent studying. I don’t have much free time as it is, so updates and posts to the site will be few and far between, if any at all. I’m also trying to get into a sleeping routine, which hasn’t been going so well. The Hunted
I always enjoy this type of movie. I think it comes from the child inside of me. As a kid I always wanted to sneak around like the highly trained government professionals. Moving around inside a room without letting anyone else know you are there has got to be one of the coolest tricks in the book. Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro had the leading roles and they did not disappoint. (...)
Monster
Charlize Theron did an amazing job in the movie. After watching it, I can see why she won Best Actress. She completely transformed herself into the character. I don’t know how someone so gorgeous can put on that kind of weight just for a movie, but she did it. Monster is based on a true story, and that always adds a little extra to a plot. (...)

Spider-Man 2
Went tonight with Hater to see it. Great movie! A few too many previews, but it didn’t take away from the movie. The story continues and has all of the characters we remember from the Spider-Man, in addition to a few new ones. Peter Parker experiences an emotional rollercoaster, before finally finding his true self with the help of a few friends, fans, and family. (...)

So Close, Yet So Far Away
After work I sat down and decided to play a quick SnG on UB. It was just a 6 seated table and I ended up placing in the money at 2nd place. While playing, I noticed that a freeroll was starting at 6:15, so I signed up. The top 25 finishers (out of 2500 entered in the tournament) would get an entry in a tournament at the end of the month. What’s So Special
I decided to have a Mountain Dew with my lunch because it’s been a week two since my last one. Can someone remind me whey I used to drink this stuff 24/7? Nothing special if you ask me. Beat Me Up!
Happy 4th of July! It’s raining here in good old northern Michigan so it looks like we’ll be stuck in the house all day. Dad is deep frying a turkey and we might have a little Texas Hold’em tournament on Isaac’s new poker table. He built it with one of his friends and it’s pretty sweet. I’ll post a picture on Monday night. (...)

Dedicated Server Hosting
Does anyone know of a good company to get a dedicated server to host my sites? I have some new projects in the works and shared hosting just won’t cut it anymore. 1&1 has some good pricing on dedicated servers, but I have a free account through them and I hate their Control Panel and the fact that I need they use different usernames for everything. To Tip Or Not To Tip…The Dealer
Ever played poker in a casino? Do you tip the dealer after a winning hand? Do you do it every time? For some reason poker etiquette expects you to. I don’t play in a casino very often, but when I do, I’m there to have fun and to make money. As if it’s not hard enough to overcome the rake (casino’s cut of each pot), I’m also expected to overcome dealer tips. (...)

Golf Swing - Fixed?
I think I figured out what has been wrong with my swing all summer. I haven’t been rotating my hips and lower body on the backswing, which has been causing a drop in my left shoulder and then my head. Every regular golfer knows that the head is supposed to be still throughout the swing. It’s amazing how this little bit of movement was causing me to almost miss the ball on tee shots. (...)
