pokerchiptricks.com

Published on Tuesday, August 31st, 2004 at 11:17pm.

I promise I’ll be starting on the new poker chip tricks site within a week. I should be able to get started on Sunday and Monday with quite a bit. First step will be coming up with a design and porting over the current list of tricks. Any ideas for a header logo? I’m not very good with graphics, so if anyone can create something worth using, I’ll give them my Rounders DVD. (...)

My Baby Blanket

Published on Saturday, August 28th, 2004 at 11:58pm.

Everyone had a favorite baby blanket or stuffed animal as a child. Mine was a small green blanket with little animals on it. There was also a small patch ironed on in one of the corners; I think it might have been He-Man or G.I. Joe. As a kid I never slept a night without it, even taking it to sleep-overs. I can still remember holding it up to my face as I sucked on my thumb. (...)

Uninspired

Published on Saturday, August 28th, 2004 at 10:59am.

Things have been pretty slow on the site lately. I know! As you know, I was out of town for almost two weeks and I’m still recovering. I just haven’t had any great thoughts or ideas to write about. I hope to change that this weekend though. Sorry for the lack of posts. (...)

Back To Normal

Published on Wednesday, August 25th, 2004 at 4:07pm.

After a week out in Philly and a 3 day golf trip, life will be back to normal for me. I had a great time on both trips and was sad to see them end. Tomorrow it’s back to work and the daily grind. I won a few side bets on the golf trip (two long drive bets with Dad were the highlight) and placed in a couple of the events, but didn’t shoot as well as I would have liked. (...)

Poker At the Taj

Published on Friday, August 20th, 2004 at 5:03am.

It’s almost 5 a.m. and we just got back from Atlantic City! I played a $100 poker tournament at the Taj Mahal and I lasted just over an hour and a half. I won hands with QQ, suited AK, and then I had to go all-in with suited A7 because my blinds were coming around and I had a short stack. The guy who called me had AA. (...)

Surviving Philly

Published on Wednesday, August 18th, 2004 at 1:09am.

It feels good to be alive. Today Lindsay and I took the bus down to Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River, where we ate at a great restaurant called Rock Lobster. Since Lindsay left her ID at the hotel, we couldn’t go to any of the bars and Dave & Buster’s wouldn’t even let us in. With nothing else to do, we hopped on another bus and headed to the motel. Day 2 In Philly

Published on Monday, August 16th, 2004 at 11:49pm.

Today, in the first day of class, we covered a lot of material that I had already learned from classes I took during college, so it wa a little boring. After class, I waited for Lindsay to return from her trolley tour and then we headed off for some excitement. (...)

The Biggest Game In Town

Published on Monday, August 16th, 2004 at 10:46pm.

The cover of this book by Al Alvarez quotes the London Evening Standard, “…probably the best book on poker ever written.” I’ve read other places online making similar claims and although I haven’t read every book on poker written, this has been the best I’ve turned a page on. Alvarez has a way with words that makes reading easy and fun. (...)

Day 1 In Philly

Published on Monday, August 16th, 2004 at 1:10am.

For a recap of the first day in Philadelphia, I’ve decided to let my travel companion Lindsay do a guest post. It marks the first guest post on this site. Enjoy! I woke up this morning at 7:00 because my Uncle Erik’s dog, Max, was whining at my bedroom door. (...)

I’m Off…

Published on Sunday, August 15th, 2004 at 9:40am.

In about an hour I’ll be taking off for Flint, flying to Chicago, and then arriving in Philadelphia sometime after 6 (their time). Lindsay and I always have fun, so it should be a blast. I have no clue what we are doing though, I left all of the planning up to Lindsay (teachers have all that damn free time in the summer). The training class should be really good too. (...)

Kill Bill: Volume 2

Published on Saturday, August 14th, 2004 at 10:21am.

The follow up to Volume 1 and the end of the Kill Bill series. I liked the first movie much better and for quite a few reasons. Volume 2 was missing all of the fight scenes that made Volume 1 stand out. There were a few short action sequences, but only enough to wet your appetite. Way too much talking, background information, and scenes that had no place in the movie. (...)

John Daly Deserves The Ryder Cup

Published on Thursday, August 12th, 2004 at 10:47am.

Simply put, the guy is fun to watch. The normal hacker can really relate to the guy, because he’s down to earth. He doesn’t care what people think of him and nothing scares him either. He’s one of the few golfers that you’ll see smoking a cigarette (or several) on TV during a round. (...)

A Swing In Progress

Published on Wednesday, August 11th, 2004 at 10:51pm.

I stopped by the driving range today to work on my golf swing. I recently found out that my backswing was getting too steep, which in turn has been causing me to slice the ball. I hit over 100 balls and was striking it pretty good. There were a few shanks here and there, but that is to be expected when you are trying to change something that’s become habit. (...)

Hellboy

Published on Wednesday, August 11th, 2004 at 10:02pm.

I wasn’t expecting much from Hellboy, but it wasn’t too bad. I remember watching commercials on TV for it, thinking that I’d definitely wait for the DVD to come out. I’m glad I didn’t go to the theater to watch it, but I’m glad that I took the time to watch it. Hellboy is another comic book that has made it to the big screen over the past few years. (...)

The 2nd Time Around

Published on Wednesday, August 4th, 2004 at 12:23pm.

Today I passed Microsoft Exam 70-306, which I had failed the first time. Just barely though. My score was a 725, only 25 more than the required 700. I guess a passing score is a passing score, so it doesn’t really matter. (...)

King Par Tent Sale

Published on Sunday, August 1st, 2004 at 12:28am.

King Par’s annual tent sale ends tomorrow (Sunday), so we stopped by today. It was like being a kid in the candy store! You can’t even imagine how much golf equipment and clothing they had on sale. It was unreal. Boxes and boxes of gloves, irons, woods. Shelves packed full of shoes. Rows of tables stacked with golf balls. I bought a new pair of Adidas golf shoes ($40) and a new driver. (...)

Come To My Window

Published on Sunday, August 1st, 2004 at 12:09am.

I had to crawl through the window tonight after getting home from my cousin’s wedding. Mom took my house key during the day while Dad and I went golfing. Needless to say, she never gave it back, but simply set it on the cupboard. I think I’ll be making a spare and keeping it in my car from now on! (...)
