Favorite Flicks

Recently I was asked what my favorite movies are. That’s a tough question to answer because each movie fits into its own category. It’s hard to say that a sports movie is better than one with action or vice versa. Here are my favorite flicks of all time and the ones from my DVD collection that I pick to watch most often. I tried to order them roughly by the number of times I’ve watched each.

The MatrixThe Matrix
Without a doubt my favorite movie of all time. The geeky stuff, the thinking, the concept, the special effects. Amazing movie.

Rounders (Collector's Edition)Rounders
What can I say? I love to play poker and this is the best movie ever made about the game. The story of a true grinder.

AntitrustAntitrust
A great geek movie. Open source software rules!

Good Will Hunting - Collector's EditionGood Will Hunting
When it comes to movies, I’m a Matt Damon fan and this is one of his greatest.

Fight ClubFight Club
What guy doens’t like this movie? I’d watch it more often if it wasn’t such a long movie.

Black Hawk DownBlack Hawk Down
My favorite war movie, although I don’t care for most of them.

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition)The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition)The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition)The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King
Three of the greatest movies ever made and probably the greatest group as a whole.

Memento (Limited Edition)Memento
A movie that requires your attention because the events are backwards. Brilliantly put together to show the true madness of short-term memory loss.

CasinoCasino
I’ve only seen this movie once and never from my own DVD, but it’s a great one about Las Vegas and mobsters. If it weren’t for the 3 hours required to watch it, I’d fire it up right now.

Miracle (Widescreen Edition)Miracle
One of the greatest American stories of all time in the greatest sports movie ever made.

I have to say these movies are all high on my list, but I have to add the Star Wars Trilogy to the mix…the original trilogy. Also I would add the Indiana Jones movies and possibly The Hunt for the Red October.

I like all of those and they are all great, but I would definitly have “The Fifth Element” added up there because it was the first Sci-fi movie I ever really enjoyed (other than Star Wars).

I didn’t know that “Black Hawk Down” was a “warm” movie.
