Text Editor

What text editor do you use for web design and programming? I’m looking for a good one. A good free one that is.

You’d be surprised to hear that the best text editor to use for web design and programming would be Notepad. Time has proven the fact.

I have to disagree. I currently use EmEditor or the Dreamweaver editor, which are ok. Notepad search sucks. Doesn’t have search and replace. Doesn’t highlight code. Doesn’t have macros. The list goes on and on….

I came across jEdit (http://www.jedit.org/) when taking the leap from WYSISYG to hand-coding. It’s free, with lots of plug-ins to match different needs.

    Hi Nick!

    I like Notepad2 from Flo’s Freeware. http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html
