The Season of Growth

Published on Wednesday, March 30th, 2005 at 1:25pm.

Spring. It’s finally here. Yesterday the temperature reached into the 60s. The sun was shining, people were smiling, and you could smell spring in the air. I decided to take advantage of the day by getting out my bike. I headed out to the Saginaw Valley Rail Trail where I planned to ride for an hour. As I pulled in, the parking lot was pretty full for a March night. (...)

Mario - Power Up!

Published on Sunday, March 27th, 2005 at 9:04pm.

I wore this shirt out to the bar on Friday night and every single person I talked to made a comment about it. Most laughed actually. I just bought it the day before and happen to love the shirt. It brings back a lot of childhood memories. (...)

Tag, You’re It!

Published on Friday, March 25th, 2005 at 1:04pm.

Since I started using Flickr earlier this month, I’ve falling in love with tags. Using categories in WordPress has always been a burden, so made the move to rid the site of them. Using tags is much better way to classify things in my opinion. You can view a heat map or full list of the tags used here at MDV. (...)

Take On the Fives

Published on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005 at 11:58am.

How many 5 year-olds could you take on? One of the greatest hypothetical questions I’ve ever come across. I think I could take on quite a few more than 30. (...)

Rack It Up

Published on Monday, March 21st, 2005 at 11:33am.

Just ordered a new bike rack to use with the hitch on my TrailBlazer. I decided to go with the Thule 996 - Expressway from Rack Attack which has some good deals right now. I can’t wait to get out on my bike again! (...)

Double Royal

Published on Sunday, March 20th, 2005 at 2:58am.

I try not to post poker stuff here anymore, but this is worthy of a posting. While playing at Party Poker I hit the 4th and 5th royal flushes of my life less than 30 minutes apart. This is unheard of! It’s hard enough to get a royal flush, let alone two in such a short period of time. (...)

What a Deal

Published on Monday, March 14th, 2005 at 12:08pm.

According to Kelley Blue Book, the suggested retail on my new used TrailBlazer is $21,085 and the private party value is $17,745. I paid $17,600 out the door with everything included (tax, title, license, and fees). Gotta love small town businesses. (...)

Blue March

Published on Sunday, March 13th, 2005 at 7:28pm.

My favorite college basketball team, the Duke Blue Devils, won the ACC tournament today for the 6th time in the last 7 years (lost the title game in OT last year). What’s remarkable about the win is that they didn’t make a field goal for the final 11 minutes of the game, until Sheldon Williams had a tip-in with 3 seconds left. (...)

New Ride

Published on Saturday, March 12th, 2005 at 8:44am.

I’m up in Rogers City for the weekend because of a big purchase I made yesterday. I bought an awesome 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer LT 4×4. It’s black and is just like brand new. The previous owner took great care of it and only put 25,000 miles on it in three years, so it’s hardly been driven. Since the vehicle has the LT package instead of the LS, it’s pretty loaded. (...)

Today’s Horoscope

Published on Monday, March 7th, 2005 at 8:46am.

My horoscope for today… You’re thinking of making a major purchase. You’ve been thinking about it for days — maybe even weeks. Before you do, though, be sure you realistically take stock of what you have to spend. That means the checking account, the plastic and the ATM. Everything. How do they know I’m buying a different vehicle? (...)

I didn’t do any compression of the files when uploading, but still only managed to use 69% of my upload capacity for this month. I’m really impressed by the service that Flickr offers. The Jacket

Published on Sunday, March 6th, 2005 at 10:11am.

I hadn’t heard of this movie until last night when my friend Casey and I were trying to find a movie to go see. We watched the trailer online and thought it looked good. We were right. The Jacket is one of those movies that gets you thinking and will definitely require a second viewing once the DVD comes out. The story is about Jack Starks (Adrien Brody), a man accused of killing a cop. (...)

Fresh Build

Published on Saturday, March 5th, 2005 at 2:23am.

I just finished rebuilding my computer. For the non-geeks, this means I erased everything on my computer and reinstalled Windows and all of the software. I only managed to forget to back up one thing, but it was a pretty big one. I forgot to make a copy of my poker history files, so I lost the last 5 months of statistics and record of my play. That’s over 50,000 hands of poker played online. (...)

Death of a Salesman

Published on Thursday, March 3rd, 2005 at 8:58pm.

After dealing with car salesmen, I almost wish for the death of a few. I don’t know if I’ve ever dealt with a profession which is shadier than dealing with car salesmen. These guys twist words and make up more lies than I ever could. They’re trying to rip us off in the first place…isn’t that bad enough? (...)

A Service to Replace all Others

Published on Thursday, March 3rd, 2005 at 8:44pm.

Yesterday I discussed my struggles to find a service for links and feeds. Today I found one. My Yahoo! Not only can I store all of my links/bookmarks and keep track of feeds, but there’s a ton of other information. In your My Yahoo! account you can create several different pages. I’ve created a total of four pages so far. My first page is called Main and has just a ton of information. (...)

Pluck This

Published on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005 at 8:37pm.

I justed tested out Pluck, a service which manages your links and feeds. They have a really nice piece of software that integrates with IE for reading feeds and managing everything, but it’s only for IE. Their web interface blows. Pluck shows promise, but until they can come up with something for Firefox, I don’t see them moving forward. (...)
