Swapping out Mom’s computer. Time to get rid of this 800MHz piece of shit. (...)

Wireless Mouse on the Fritz

Published on Thursday, July 28th, 2005 at 10:02pm.

Almost every night lately my wireless mouse goes nuts. The optical light or whatever you call it starts blinking non-stop, which makes the cursor jump across the screen whenever I try to do something. It’s as if it’s getting a constant signal from something else in the area. Anyone have any ideas? (...)

Dial 0

Published on Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 at 7:57pm.

I’m working on a friends computer right now and the thing doesn’t even have a network card. I can’t remember the last time I saw a computer with only a modem. What did I get myself into? (...)

Don’t Click It

What would you do in a world without clicking? Seems rather annoying to me. (...)

Have you ever went to hit the Tab key and pressed T instead? I’ve been doing it quite a bit lately. (...)

Everyone once in awhile my PC speakers will pick up what sounds like a walkie talkie or some kind of phone. How is this possible? (...)

Apple Carts

Published on Friday, April 8th, 2005 at 11:10am.

Recently I’ve been thinking about buying a Mac. An apple a day keeps the doctor away…right? Below are the prices I’ve come up with for a 15 inch PowerBook, 17 inch PowerBook, and Mac Mini. I’d much rather have a laptop, because I already have desktop with my Dell server. $2,500 is a lot of money though! (...)

Fresh Build

Published on Saturday, March 5th, 2005 at 2:23am.

I just finished rebuilding my computer. For the non-geeks, this means I erased everything on my computer and reinstalled Windows and all of the software. I only managed to forget to back up one thing, but it was a pretty big one. I forgot to make a copy of my poker history files, so I lost the last 5 months of statistics and record of my play. That’s over 50,000 hands of poker played online. (...)

Mac mini

Published on Wednesday, January 12th, 2005 at 9:34pm.

At $500, I think it’s time to start thinking about trying a Mac mini. People have been ranting and raving to me for the last year or two that I need a Mac. At this price for such a tiny little thing, I don’t know if I could pass it up. Although I think the $500 is a bit deceiving. I’d need to get a wireless card and probably a bump in RAM at the least. (...)

This And That

Published on Sunday, February 22nd, 2004 at 5:35pm.

Went out to an 80’s bar last night with a few friends and ended up staying until closing time. As a result I’m feeling a little “under the weather” today. The bar is pretty cool…they have a big screen TV that they play videos on while the song is playing, so you get the feeling that you’re back in the day, listening to some of the music we grew up on. (...)

New Toys

Published on Wednesday, February 18th, 2004 at 11:35pm.

Today I bought a new electric razor on Ebay. I went with a Norelco Advantage 6737XB, since it’s one of the best models made my Norelco. My Remington just hasn’t been treating me too well anymore, so it was time for a change. Suprisingly I was the only person to bid on the auction. (...)

Gallery Upgrade

Published on Saturday, February 14th, 2004 at 1:23am.

I just finished upgrading the Photos section of the site to use Gallery 1.4.2. The only reason I upgraded was because they had found a pretty big security hole in the previous versions of the software. I didn’t feel like having someone hack into my web server. (...)

Running Linux

Published on Thursday, February 12th, 2004 at 11:01pm.

My new server, with Linux installed, is up and running. I’m making this post from it right now as a matter of fact. It will take me some time to get used to it and learn my way around. It’s been a few years since I’ve had a Linux box, so there is quite a bit new and different. If anyone knows any good sites for tutorials and configurations, let me know. (...)

A New Puter

Published on Thursday, February 5th, 2004 at 12:52pm.

I ordered a new computer today from Dell. They have a pretty sweet deal going on right now for a server. It has a free upgrade from a Celuron processor to a Pentium 4 2.26 GHz, comes with a 40 GB hard drive, and all the basics. It doesn’t come with any software, but I plan to install Linux on it, so that’s not a big deal. (...)

Good As New

Published on Tuesday, December 9th, 2003 at 11:20pm.

I just finished rebuilding my computer, which in simple terms means that I cleaned off the hard drive, reinstalled Windows XP and all of my programs. I had been way overdue. Usually I try to rebuild it about every 6 months, but this time it had been over a year!! (...)

Computer Box

Published on Monday, November 24th, 2003 at 6:20pm.

This is a true story… As most of you know, I work for the Help Desk at SVSU. A few weeks ago we were cleaning the Nachi virus off of computers for students who lived on campus. A co-worker of mine told a female student that we only needed her to bring in the box of her computer, we didn’t need the cables, mouse, etc. (...)
