Quickie: 04/26/2008 8:58:06am

Published on Saturday, April 26th, 2008 at 8:59am.

I was planning to get my yard done this weekend but my sister called Thursday night asking if I wanted to go to the Red Wings game tonight. It’s cold and windy out so I wouldn’t have been too thrilled of working in the yard anyways. (...)

Dad came down for the weekend. We fixed up some things on the house, golfed both days, and caught a movie. I’m going to finish up a few gutter extensions and then relax. (...)

I Couldn’t Spell My Own Name

Published on Tuesday, May 1st, 2007 at 5:30pm.

Nearly two weeks ago I had a very scary experience. The day was Wednesday, April 18th… 4:45pm I got home from work and changed my clothes. Did a couple of things around the house and changed into some comfortable clothes. 5:15pm Figured I would shoot some pool before working out. (...)

Dad Shot a Nice 8 Point Whitetail

Published on Tuesday, October 10th, 2006 at 11:11am.

Last night my Dad shot a nice 8 point whitetail deer with the bow and arrow. He’s an avid hunter but still gets pretty excited about a big kill. I guess he’s going to get this buck mounted to add to his trophy collection. Click through for more photos. (...)

Booked Sunday

Published on Friday, June 2nd, 2006 at 4:20pm.

An hour ago I didn’t have any plans set in stone for the weekend. Now my Sunday is booked solid. First, my Dad invited me up to play a golf course in Harrisville called Loggers Trace at 12:30. He has some type of connection and we are golfing for free. Can’t argue with that so I said “Yes” right away. (...)

Merry New Birthday

Published on Friday, January 6th, 2006 at 12:37pm.

It’s been awhile. Too long. The last post I made was December 16th, which I believe is the longest period without activity since the blog launched over two years ago. I’ve missed Christmas, my 26th birthday (12/26), and the New Year. I even missed the 2 year anniversary of MtDewVirus, which would have been on November 22nd. (...)

A Sporting Thanksgiving

Published on Thursday, December 1st, 2005 at 12:02pm.

As posted previously, I attended a few professional sports events over the Thanksgiving holiday. Last Wednesday (Nov. 23) my parents left Rogers City bright and early. I’m not sure why they came down so early, but I wasn’t too happy that they interrupted my Xbox 360 time since I had just hooked it up the night before. (...)

Wings, Lions, and Pistons

Published on Wednesday, November 9th, 2005 at 12:16pm.

My Dad, brother, and I were planning on getting some tickets for the Lions Thanksgiving game this year, so I’ve been keeping an eye on eBay. It looked like it was going to be at least $300 for 3 tickets to the game, and those aren’t even for the good seats. Yesterday I found a dream come true. There was an auction selling 3 tickets to the Detroit Red Wings vs. (...)

I’m Back

Published on Monday, August 29th, 2005 at 8:49am.

It’s been over a week since I posted. I had a great time on my golf trip, but I’ve been busy since I came back. I’m still tired out and my back is sore each morning when I crawl out of bed. I haven’t played golf since the trip and I doubt I will for at least another week…I’m all golfed out. 108 holes and 30 hours of sun over 3 days will do that to a person. (...)

A Little Shopping

Published on Sunday, April 24th, 2005 at 10:02am.

Heather and Mom are visiting for the weekend, so we made a trip to the outlets in Birch Run yesterday. My plan was to buy some new polo shirts and maybe a few other things. I ended up spending over $300 on new clothes and shoes! What can I say? I’m a sucker for shopping. Most of the total was spent on two new pairs of Dr. Marten’s, one brown and one black. (...)

Congrats Heather!

Published on Monday, February 21st, 2005 at 6:24pm.

My little sister Heather just got hired for a permanent substitute teaching job for the rest of the school year. She had graduated in December and there aren’t too many openings for teachers in the middle of the school year, so I’m really happy for her. Way to go Baba! Haha…”Baba” was my nickname for her when we were young. She just love when I call her that now. (...)

I Never Forget

Published on Sunday, January 30th, 2005 at 8:00pm.

This morning I woke up and jumped out of bed. I ran over to check the calendar on the wall. Sure enough, today is January 30th. I forgot to call my sister on her 23rd birthday! FUCK! It was still before 10 a.m. and I knew she wouldn’t be awake yet because she had told me about plans to go to the bar. I finally called her at around 12:30 and of course she gave me the shit. (...)

Over The Weekend

Published on Monday, December 20th, 2004 at 9:40am.

On Friday night, the family came down for Heather’s graduation. The speaker was dreadful, as expected, but the ceremony didn’t seem too long. After commencement, we headed off to Red Lobster for a little dinner celebration. I love that place. I had the Ultimate Feast and saved room for desert. It was some microwaved brownie thing with ice cream and chocolate syrup. Mmm mmm mmm!! (...)

Visitors

Published on Sunday, November 7th, 2004 at 11:47am.

I’ve had some visitors over the last few days, so there hasn’t been much time for posting. It’s always nice to take a little break from the online world though. On Thursday night, my sister came down because her last class was on Friday. Heather ’s doing her student teaching right now, will be done in a few weeks, and then graduates in December. (...)

Lil Sis

Published on Friday, October 8th, 2004 at 8:03pm.

Heather came down for a visit yesterday. She had to go to a class for her student teaching today so she drove down after school and spent the night. I cooked up some chicken fettuccine alfredo, garlic toast, and even baked some caramel brownies for desert. I figured cooking her dinner was the least I could do after all of the cooking she did for me during the two years we lived together. (...)

Ryder Cup Practice Rounds

Published on Friday, September 17th, 2004 at 10:54am.

Watching professional golfers is enjoyable for anyone who enjoys the game of golf. Being a witness to their play in person is even better. Dad and I enjoyed watching the United States and European Ryder Cup teams practice, but not as much as when we’ve seen them compete in the Buick Open several teams. (...)

Labor Day Weekend

Published on Monday, September 6th, 2004 at 4:20pm.

I had an enjoyable weekend. On Friday Jere made the drive up to Rogers City with me. It took a little longer than normal because of all the traffic, but it wasn’t as bad as we expected. After relaxing a bit at Mom and Dad’s, it was out to the bars for a night with the boys. There weren’t many people out, but we had a good time. I finally made it home around 3 a.m. (...)

Come To My Window

Published on Sunday, August 1st, 2004 at 12:09am.

I had to crawl through the window tonight after getting home from my cousin’s wedding. Mom took my house key during the day while Dad and I went golfing. Needless to say, she never gave it back, but simply set it on the cupboard. I think I’ll be making a spare and keeping it in my car from now on! (...)

Beat Me Up!

Published on Sunday, July 4th, 2004 at 12:25pm.

Happy 4th of July! It’s raining here in good old northern Michigan so it looks like we’ll be stuck in the house all day. Dad is deep frying a turkey and we might have a little Texas Hold’em tournament on Isaac’s new poker table. He built it with one of his friends and it’s pretty sweet. I’ll post a picture on Monday night. (...)

Good Friday

Published on Friday, April 9th, 2004 at 12:24pm.

Is it really that good? I’m still at work, which is extemely slow by the way. A lot of people have taken the at least a portion of the day off to go to church or do whatever. Since I’m taking so many other days off during the month, I’m stuck here. Maybe I’ll get to leave early and head up north before all of the traffic gets crazy. (...)

My Sister…My Wife?

Published on Monday, January 26th, 2004 at 7:20pm.

Yesterday while I was shopping for dress pants and shirts, the lady in the store called Heather my wife. We’re pretty used to it by now, but it’s always good for a quick laugh. I’m not even sure if I could count how many times it has happened. Maybe people think that because we are roughly the same age and get along so well. (...)

Back To Normal

Published on Sunday, January 18th, 2004 at 8:34pm.

Life should be back to normal now. I took another nap not too long ago and probably could have slept til morning. Just mentally drained I guess. Dad is taking tomorrow off work and I’m glad. He rarely ever takes time off and usually works 50-60 hours a week. This is definitely a time when he can use the day off. The drive back today wasn’t too bad. (...)

Complete Exhaustion

Published on Saturday, January 17th, 2004 at 8:28pm.

Being at a visitation and a funeral may make for the most exhausting two days a person can handle. I spent about 4-5 hours at the funeral home yesterday and then we were leaving the house at 8 this morning to head out to the church for the funeral. After the brunch, we were finally on the way home at about 1 o’clock. (...)

Papa Gets His Wish

Published on Thursday, January 15th, 2004 at 8:14am.

My Grandpa Momrik passed away this morning at around 6 a.m. I got the call from Mom when I was getting ready for work and then Dad called on the way to work. My Dad seems to be taking it pretty hard. Ever since Nanny passed unexpectantly a few years ago, Papa has been going downhill. Nanny was everything to him and he just didn’t want to be here without her. (...)

Well, it’s like 3 a.m. and I’m not quite sure what to say. My sister and I came over to Bay City tonight and hung out with my good friends, Hater, Case, Kate, and Jeff. We had a good time. After playing some drinking games here at their house, we walked to a bar called the Green Hut. At least I think that was the name of it. (...)

Another Winter Semester

Published on Saturday, January 10th, 2004 at 12:56pm.

Monday marks the beginning of the winter semester at SVSU. The week at work went by suprisingly fast since I was dreading working again after the long vacation. Students were registering for classes at the last minute, as usual. New faculty wanted access to their accounts at the last minute, as usual. It still amazes me that the majority of society loves to procrastinate. (...)

The Future is Brighter

Published on Monday, January 5th, 2004 at 11:58pm.

Things are starting to look better already for 2004. I got a call earlier today from a company asking if I was interested in a position, but it was a software support position. It would be similar to what I’m already doing and this is what I want to get away from. He said he was going to keep my resume and get in contact with me again if they have any programming positions become available. (...)

A Good Birthday

Published on Saturday, December 27th, 2003 at 12:08am.

Overall it was a good birthday, but not that much different than any other day. I woke up around 11:00, when Heather and Isaac gave me their gifts. Isaac got me some Coors Light stuff and Heather got me a new basketball and a spare battery for my camera, which was pretty sweet. Jere came over around 12:30 and we played a few games of March Madness on XBOX. I kicked his ass! (...)

I Don’t Feel Any Older

Published on Friday, December 26th, 2003 at 2:22am.

Officially I’m 24 now, but it doesn’t feel any different. To me it’s just another day. The only big difference is that mom makes me a cake and I get a few presents. No real big plans for the day except to probably go out to eat with the family. (...)

Christmas Tradition

Published on Wednesday, December 24th, 2003 at 5:39pm.

Every year on Christmas Eve we have a tradition that we follow. Around 5:00 we start off with crab legs for supper. After everything is cleaned up, we open our stockings. For the past few years dad has been in charge of the stocking stuffers and we have a little joke with it. He goes to the dollar store and picks up cheap little things and usually a few lotto tickets. A Piece Of History

Published on Sunday, December 14th, 2003 at 2:02am.

Yesterday, my dad, brother, and I were a part of basketball history. We attended the BasketBowl at Ford Field, where Michigan State lost to Kentucky 79-74, in front of 78,129 people; the largest crowd in basketball history (at any level of play). I bought the tickets as Christmas gifts to them and we had a good time. (...)

Happy Thanksgiving

Published on Thursday, November 27th, 2003 at 1:17pm.

Well, I survived the biggest bar night of the year, unlike Tom who was stumbled home at 12:30. It’s been a long time since I’ve been out drinking in Rogers City and didn’t end up without a hangover the next day. Today is that day. I’m not sure if I could be any hungrier for turkey, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, stuffing, and everything else. (...)
