Ocean’s 13

Published on Tuesday, June 26th, 2007 at 9:08am.

I really enjoyed Ocean’s Eleven when it came out and thought Ocean’s Twelve was good too. So when I saw Ocean’s 13 was next in line I knew I’d have to see it. Went last night with Tom because it was too damn hot to do anything else around the house or outside. We both enjoyed the movie and I’ll add it to my DVD collection when it comes out. (...)

Review: Bringing Down the House

Published on Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 at 11:03pm.

After reading the back cover of this book I knew I had to read it. Bringing Down the House is the story of how M.I.T. students beat the house. They took Las Vegas and other casinos around the country for millions of dollars. The book is one of the best I’ve ever read. It was one of those I couldn’t put down. (...)

Super Bowl Squares

Just in case you wanted to know which Super Bowl squares are the “best” to have, here’s a list of how frequently scores have appeared in recent years. (...)

Amarillo Slim In A World Full Of Fat People

Published on Wednesday, September 8th, 2004 at 5:06pm.

What a great read! The book is broken down into twelve chapters, each having their own theme. Then each chapter is broken down into a series of what are really short stories about Amarillo Slim (Thomas Austin Preston Jr.) and his adventures. You get to learn about Slim’s pool skills, how he started playing poker, and some of the craziest bets I’ve ever heard of. (...)

The Sacramento Trip

Published on Saturday, May 29th, 2004 at 4:56pm.

Here’s a recap of my trip to Sacramento… Sunday Flew out of Detroit at about 5 PM ET, had a connecting flight in Phoenix, and landed in Sacramento around PM PT. Rented a car, checked into the hotel, and just crashed for the night. Nothing exciting. Monday First day of class (9-4:30). (...)

Kentucky Derby

Published on Friday, April 30th, 2004 at 2:43pm.

My friend Casey and Hater headed down to Kentucky for Saturday’s 130th running of the Derby. How awesome would that be to attend? I gave Casey a ten spot to put on Lion Heart to Show. What that means is that the horse needs to finish in the top 3 and I’ll win money (the higher the finish, the more payoff). Hopefully it’ll cash out nicely. (...)

A Winning Night

Published on Sunday, April 11th, 2004 at 1:04am.

Mom and I went up to the Kewadin Casino in St. Ignace for the night. We got there around 3:30, but the poker room didn’t open until 4:00, so I had a seat at the bar to watch the Red Wings and have a beer. After awhile I finally decided to check out the poker room. (...)

Lotto Theory

Published on Thursday, April 1st, 2004 at 2:47pm.

I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t like to have more money. Money, of course, isn’t the solution to life’s problems, but it sure does make living easier. It’s the reason people buy lottery tickets; for that chance at millions of dollars. Not even needs the money of course, but I’m talking about the average person, not Bill Gates. (...)

Ocean’s Eleven

Published on Thursday, March 4th, 2004 at 3:05pm.

I watched this movie yesterday and forgot to write a review. I’ve seen the movie once or twice in the theater and countless other times on DVD, so that alone should tell you I think it’s a great movie. What more could you ask for? Eleven guys (all with different talents) team up to rob a Las Vegas casino. It’s a great plan that runs into a few bumps in the road. (...)

Poker Skill Or Just Luck?

Published on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2004 at 8:10pm.

I had a very interesting conversation today at work about poker. There are so many people out there that suggest or truly believe that there isn’t any skill involved in poker…just dumb luck. I invite everyone who believes this to come play a fews sessions of poker at my house, and we’ll see how much skill it takes to win! (...)

Take A Chance

Published on Friday, February 20th, 2004 at 8:46am.

The Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at $222 million. Wow! WIOG, a local radio station, is running a group lottery ticket, so I stopped by on my way to work and put in $1. They already had collected over $750 at around 8:15 this morning. I also stopped at 7-Eleven and bought my own $1 ticket. You can’t win if you don’t have a ticket… (...)

Super Bowl XXXVIII

Published on Sunday, February 1st, 2004 at 12:02pm.

The Super Bowl is today, but I’m not all that thrilled about it. I’m not a fan of the teams, but I don’t hate them either. I would have liked to see Payton Manning and the Colts make it to the big show, but the cold New England weather did them in against the Patriots. I guess I’ll root for the Panthers simply because they are the underdogs. (...)
