Pistol: The Life of Pete Maravich
“Pistol” Pete Maravich was the greatest college basketball player to ever play the game. The “Pistol” was a guard and he averaged over 40 points a game throughout college before there was ever a 3 point line. He had a great shot and actually made a lot of shots which would have easily been worth 3 points in today’s game. (...)

Former Duke Players Recognized As Good Sports
Luol Deng, who played a year of college basketball for Duke University, was awarded the NBA sportsmanship award. Of the 5 other divisional winners for the award, Shane Battier and Elton Brand also played for Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils. Three out of six isn’t too bad! (...)

If It Ain’t Rough, It Ain’t Right
The Detroit Pistons once again showed their toughness last night, winning game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Miami Heat still hold a lead in the series at 3-2, but the pressure is now on them to win game 6 on their home court. Everyone knows the Miami doesn’t want to end up in a game 7 back at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Detroit doesn’t lose in those types of games at home. (...)

A Sporting Thanksgiving
As posted previously, I attended a few professional sports events over the Thanksgiving holiday. Last Wednesday (Nov. 23) my parents left Rogers City bright and early. I’m not sure why they came down so early, but I wasn’t too happy that they interrupted my Xbox 360 time since I had just hooked it up the night before. (...)

Wings, Lions, and Pistons
My Dad, brother, and I were planning on getting some tickets for the Lions Thanksgiving game this year, so I’ve been keeping an eye on eBay. It looked like it was going to be at least $300 for 3 tickets to the game, and those aren’t even for the good seats. Yesterday I found a dream come true. There was an auction selling 3 tickets to the Detroit Red Wings vs. (...)

All Heart
The Detroit Pistons played with everything they had tonight and forced a game 7 in the NBA Finals. The first 4 games of the series were blowouts, but it’s turned into one hell of a series. Game 7 will be must watch TV. (...)
NBA Movies
I really don’t care for the clips from upcoming movies the NBA has been using with the highlights during the playoffs. It’s just another example of how professional sports have become businesses instead of just entertainment. (...)
Brown’s Last Job
Detroit will be Larry Brown’s last coaching job. (...)

Pistons, Engines, Tires, And A Pink Shirt
I received a call from my buddy Jeff on Friday night asking if I’d be interested in a couple of Pistons tickets for Saturday night’s game. Jeff’s friend is a season ticket holder and couldn’t get rid of his seats for the game against the Bulls. (...)

Disturbing News Items
The big story in the news over the past few days has been the fight that broke out between players and fans during the NBA game between the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers. Artest got his wish with a season long suspension and will now have plenty of time to work on his rap album. I’m glad to see him go, but I feel bad for the Pacers organization, because their season is all but over. (...)

No Trey
There’s talk about eliminated three pointers from the NBA until the final 5 minutes of a game. My guess is it’ll be a short talk. (...)

Luck The Fakers
I heard it would be a sweep by the Lakers. I heard it would be Lakers in 5, 6, or 7. I never heard once that it would be the Pistons winning the NBA Championship. I believed in Detroit and they came through. It was the Pistons who had the sweep, if it weren’t for a miracle shot by Kobe to put game 2 into overtime, which the Lakers ended up winning. (...)

Do You Believe Now?
Detroit leads the series 2-1 and it should really be 3-0. They’ve completed dominated the Lakers. I don’t even need to say anymore than that, because if you’ve watched the games, you know what I’m talking about. (...)

No Sweep For You!
Looks like the Lakers won’t be sweeping the Pistons. Nobody game Detroit a chance, but they walked into L.A. and stole game 1 in convincing fashion. Their defense was simply amazing as usual. Just keep working hard and good things come your way. (...)

Pistons - Goin’ To Work
What a performance by version 2 of the Bad Boys. They completely dominated tonight’s game with their defense. Ben Wallace never ceases to amaze me, but he pulled out a few suprises tonight with 18 foot jumpers. After winning the first two games of the series I thought the Pistons would coast through round 2, but the Nets won the next 3 to pull ahead. (...)

Hot Basketball Teams
The Detroit Pistons have won their 13th game in a row, tying a franchise record. They beat the defending champion Spurs tonight. Duke took over the #1 spot in the Coaches and AP polls today. Go Blue Devils! (...)
