WordPress Plugin: Comment Author URL Stripper
As promised, I’ve created a plugin which removes the URL from a comment author if it contains any of the words specified in the Options screen. Too many people have been leaving comments and putting in yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc. as their web site and I got tired of editing those comments all of the time. (...)

Comment Author URL Stripper
When writing comments, a lot of people type in google.com, yahoo.com, hotmail.com, and various other web sites which don’t belong to them. This plugin strips out the comment author URL whenever it contains anything from a set of words that you specify in the Options screen. The URL will never make it to the database. (...)

404 Notifier WordPress Plugin
Some of the best WordPress plugins are the ones you rarely use. One of my favorites is Alex King’s 404 Notifier. Very handy to turn on every couple of months or after a site upgrade. (...)

Integrating Twitter
I’ve been using Twitter more and more just because it’s so simple to post quick little updates. I just installed the Twitter Tools plugin which will create a daily post here at MDV from my Twitter Updates. These daily posts (if I have any Tweets that day) will go into the quickie category and make things easier on me. Hopefully it’ll help to keep some fresh content on the site. (...)

Spammers Attack
Over the past week I’ve had a problem with spammers hitting my comment form hardcore both here and at 2 Hole Cards so hard it was crashing the web host server. They had to disable the sites and it looks like the spammers have moved along. Just to help out for future attacks, I’ve upgraded to the latest and greatest testing version of WordPress and added Spam Karma 2.3 as a new plugin. (...)

No WWW
I posted a couple of months ago about dropping the www from URLs and have been a supporter of it for much longer. All of my sites have been www free for as long as I can remember. The www.xxxx.com URLs will redirect to the one without www. If you’re using WordPress and have been afraid to try out the .htaccess method Matt released the no-www plugin last month. (...)
Stop Comment Spam and Trackback Spam
With Akismet from Automattic or more specifically Matt Mullenweg. I just purchased a Pro-blogger license for an entire year and installed the WordPress plugin on all of my blogs. WordPress Plugins: Trackback And Pingback Moderation
These two plugins basically do the same thing, but I wanted to keep them seperate. When you turn one on, it will automatically place either all NEW trackbacks or all NEW pingbacks (depending on the plugin) into the comment moderation queue. It’s meant as a simple way to keep the spammers from getting these onto your site without you first approving them. (...)

WordPress Plugin: Card Converter
Card Converter is a WordPress plugin with poker bloggers in mind, but it can be used by anyone who would like to display playing cards in posts and comments. It will take card abbreviations such as Ad (meaning Ace of diamonds) and convert it to a CSS graphical-like representation of the card. (...)
