I Wonder

Published on Tuesday, November 1st, 2005 at 11:53pm.

I wonder… Will I ever escape the Matrix? How old will I be before I stop playing video games? Do the houses used in the Real World have light switches? They never seem to be in the dark. Ever! How old will I be before I lose my hair and start to shave my head? When will we get the first woman president? How do babies survive and grow on only milk? Any answers? What do you wonder? (...)

I Wonder

Published on Wednesday, September 28th, 2005 at 12:13am.

I’ve decided to take the first “I Wonder” post and make it into the I Wonder Series. I’ll add things into a saved post and when I have enough I’ll post it. I think I come up with plenty of random thoughts to keep this going on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. (...)

I Wonder

Published on Friday, September 16th, 2005 at 10:19am.

I always have random thoughts running through my mind, so I thought I’d share a few of them I’ve had lately… Why is your list of criminal offenses called a “rap sheet”? When we fold our hands, is it based on our dominant hand? I’m right-handed and I fold my hands with my right thumb on top. Which pant leg to people tend to put on first? (...)

April Fool’s

Published on Friday, April 1st, 2005 at 12:46pm.

Why do people and/or businesses announce things on April Fool’s Day? It has to be the worst day of the year for announcments. We want to believe something, but then we remember it’s April 1st and can’t help but think, “Is this a joke?” Seriously, couldn’t an announcement of some sort wait until the next day? (...)

Spit Or Swallow?

Published on Monday, November 15th, 2004 at 2:08pm.

After chewing a piece of gum, do you spit it out or swallow it? I swallow (my gum). Several people have commented to me in the past that they think it’s gross. I don’t understand. I don’t chew up a piece of licorice and then spit it in the garbage. Or toast, or pickles, or anything for that matter. Why do some people view gum differently from other food items we eat? (...)

What Would You Do?

Published on Wednesday, October 13th, 2004 at 9:40pm.

You’re out shopping for a few things and notice that the cashier didn’t charge you for something. Do you bring it up and ask him/her to charge you for it or do you go on with your business and take the item, free of charge? After all, stores don’t come running after us when they overcharge us for something do they? What would you do? (...)

Faith And Doubt

Published on Monday, September 13th, 2004 at 12:12am.

I’m a spiritual person who lacks a vocabulary for it. Lance Armstrong - Every Second Counts (p. 96) Brilliant! I’ve always looked for the right words to express my beliefs and now I have them. Any account of my life begs for larger explanation: why did I live? I refuse the pat answer. God didn’t do it. (...)

To Tip Or Not To Tip…The Dealer

Published on Friday, July 2nd, 2004 at 8:24am.

Ever played poker in a casino? Do you tip the dealer after a winning hand? Do you do it every time? For some reason poker etiquette expects you to. I don’t play in a casino very often, but when I do, I’m there to have fun and to make money. As if it’s not hard enough to overcome the rake (casino’s cut of each pot), I’m also expected to overcome dealer tips. (...)

Lack Of Posts

Published on Tuesday, June 29th, 2004 at 8:18pm.

I know I haven’t been posting much lately, but I haven’t felt the creativity or had any big inspirations. I’ve been busy cleaning the house, biking, hanging out with friends, golfing, and of course working. Today I had my oil changed and found out that I need new front tires. This weekend I’m heading up to Rogers City for the long weekend (we have the 5th off). (...)

Being Satisfied

Published on Thursday, June 3rd, 2004 at 10:21pm.

I am easily satisfied with the very best. Winston Churchill Show me a thoroughly satisfied man and I will show you a failure. Thomas Edison I never made a film which fully satisfied me. Roman Polanski Is being satisfied a good thing or a bad thing? BAD satisfaction The fulfillment or gratification of a desire, need, or appetite. (...)

Have A Safe Flight

Published on Sunday, May 23rd, 2004 at 11:51am.

My buddy Case just said, “have a safe flight” on IM. I know we are just being polite and thoughtful when we say it, kind of like, “drive safe.” But…on an airplane do we really have any control over how safely we arrive at our destination? Just a thought… (...)

What’s In A Post Title?

Published on Monday, May 3rd, 2004 at 11:08pm.

The title of a post can be very important. A good title may catch a visitor’s eye and spark their interest to read the post. That reader may like what they read and become a regular visitor. A title relating to the post will rank highly with search engines because the post title is used as the page title and as an H1 HTML tag. (...)

Remove Your Email Address From The Email Signature

Published on Tuesday, April 13th, 2004 at 3:46pm.

Why do people put their email address in an email signature? It doesn’t make any sense, but I keep seeing it over and over again! I don’t know…maybe I’m just a computer dork and don’t understand. Anytime I receive an email message there is a section right at the top that tells who the sender is. Amazingly, it also gives the sender’s email address. (...)

Lotto Theory

Published on Thursday, April 1st, 2004 at 2:47pm.

I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t like to have more money. Money, of course, isn’t the solution to life’s problems, but it sure does make living easier. It’s the reason people buy lottery tickets; for that chance at millions of dollars. Not even needs the money of course, but I’m talking about the average person, not Bill Gates. (...)

Political Campaign Goals

Published on Saturday, March 20th, 2004 at 2:31pm.

Over the years I’ve seen far too many presidential campaign commercials where the goal is to discredit the other candidate in the race. Maybe I just don’t get it. I would think that the main goal of a campaign should be to inform people about your own stances, thoughts, and goals. (...)

911

Published on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004 at 11:12pm.

I had a random thought today… Dialing 9-1-1 is supposed to be for emergencies, but what exactly is an emergency? When I thought about this, I was walking out to my car after playing basketball and thought, “what if my car window was smashed?” Is that an emergency? (...)

Andy Rooney

Published on Wednesday, January 21st, 2004 at 11:48pm.

Today I received an email forward from a friend with a bunch of Andy Rooney quotes. I’ve received similar messages a few times before and each time I read them I like Rooney more and more. Here are a few of the items from the email: I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion. (...)

Dinner Invites

Published on Tuesday, January 20th, 2004 at 5:59pm.

If you could invite any 3 people (living or dead) to dinner, who would they be? I’m going to split my choices up into two categories. Sports: Barry Sanders, the great running back of all-time. Anyone that can have so much talent and be so quiet about it is a special human being. Mike Krzyzewski, coach of the men’s basketball team at Duke. (...)

Is Poker Exciting?

Published on Sunday, January 4th, 2004 at 7:37pm.

No, poker is not exciting. Go to a casino and I’ll bet all of my chips that most people can’t sit there and watch a poker table for two hours straight. But when it’s on TV we could watch it all day long. It’s exciting on TV. So what’s the difference? You can find poker on TV all the time now, but why? Everyone can learn to play poker. (...)

Find Your True Calling

Published on Sunday, December 7th, 2003 at 11:33pm.

I believe that everyone has a common goal in life. We all want to find our true calling and end up doing that for a career. Every human being has that one thing that puts us in “the zone.” The hard part is finding out what that is. (...)

Being A Kid

Published on Saturday, November 22nd, 2003 at 1:23am.

Was there ever a better time in our lives? As kids, everything in the world was perfect. I used to wake up on a weekend to watch the early morning cartoons, have a bowl of cereal, and then I’d play all day long. It was such a simple life, but it made sense and it worked. I was doing exactly what I wanted to do. During the summers, I’d do that same thing every day as my routine. (...)

The Subconscious

Published on Saturday, November 22nd, 2003 at 1:20am.

Daydreaming, deja vu (glitch in the Matrix), and dreams. Each deals with “the part of the mind below the level of conscious perception” (Dictionary.com), otherwise referred to as the subconscious. Where do they come from? Can we control when and where they happen? Why do they happen? What do they mean? These are all questions I’ve asked myself at one time or another. (...)

My Beliefs

Published on Saturday, November 22nd, 2003 at 1:15am.

A topic that I’ve struggled with over the past few years. What is religion? Which religion is the right one to follow? Do we need a religion? Why are there so many different religions? I don’t know about you, but these are all questions that I’ve asked myself at one time or another. Please note that this is not an attempt to change your beliefs. (...)
