Microsoft’s Zune Project
The big news from Microsoft today was the confirmation of the Zune project. Just do a few searches and you’ll find plenty of information. I’m not writing about it to give any information or what it’s about. All I want to say is, don’t count them out. Can Microsoft create a real competitor for Apple’s iPod? Only time will tell. (...)

I’d Rather Be Home Playing WOW
Overheard on Friday night in the movie theater as The Da Vinci Code was about to begin… I’m not even excited for this movie anymore. I should just go home and play WOW. “Wow” is right. I hope I never get the urge to play the game. By the way, I thought the movie was an excellent adaptation of the book. Big thumbs up to Ron Howard, Tom Hanks, and Dan Brown. (...)

Blogworthy
As you may have noticed, I haven’t been on a regular blogging schedule here on MtDewVirus. I didn’t feel all that great a few days this week and ended up taking 1.5 sick days. That doesn’t really have anything to do with my lack of blogging though. I’m not quite sure what it is. (...)
Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf
The original Mech Assault was the first game I played on Xbox Live and it was a great game. For the past few months I had been looking forward to the release of Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf for a fresh Xbox Live experience. After playing a few games online, I’m very disappointed. The single player campaign in Mech Assault 2 is challenging and fun, just like the first game. (...)

Ghost Recon 2
What a great game! The single player campaign in Ghost Recon 2 is top-notch and the Tom Clancy series delivers yet again. You simply can’t go wrong buying a game with the Clancy name on it. The graphics and audio are among the best I’ve come across on the Xbox. You can really feel the action in the heat of battle, especially if you have a nice sub woofer for your stereo system. (...)

Halo 2 Has Been A Hit
In less than a month, more than 5 millions copies of Halo 2 were sold. The game has also logged more hours of play on Xbox Live than any other game. That’s pretty amazing since there are numerous games that have been playable on Xbox live for 2 years and Halo 2 did it in less than a month. (GameSpot) (...)

A Halo 2 Update…Already!
Bungie has already released an update to Halo 2 via XBox Live. It fixes the long delay (of a minute or two) sometimes experienced when joining a game through matchmaking. This was quite a delay considering a lot of the games only last 5 or 6 minutes. After installing the update, I was able to join games much much quicker than before. Way to go Bungie! (...)

Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge
When I first fired up Crimson Skies I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I had read several favorable reviews about the game though, so I was expecting it to be fun. After the first 5 or 10 minutes I thought, “This game sucks. I’m doing the same things over and over again.” But after playing a little bit more, I was quickly addicted. The action is fast-paced and fun. (...)

Halo 2 Campaign Review
Last night I beat Halo 2’s single player campaign, so I think it’s time for a review. Note that I’m only reviewing the campaign and none of the online or multiplayer for now. That’ll come after I spend some more time on XBox Live. I’ve read in countless reviews that the campaign was too short. I read that it took 10-12 hours when played at normal difficulty. (...)

Wet Your Halo 2 Appetite
With over 1.5 million copies on pre-order, Halo 2 promises to be AWESOME. Have I mentioned this enough in the past few weeks? Here’s some reading material to get you through the rest of the day. The reviews from IGN and Gamespot are both several pages long but full of information and only some of it is in both articles. You’ll want to read both. (...)

Major Leage Gaming
Did you know there is a Major Leage Gaming (MLG) circuit? Me either. Yesterday I saw a show on MTV about it. They were playing Halo and the winner, who won $8,000 for the day, said he has made over $80,000 for the year. Playing video games? Damn, where do I sign up for this gig? (...)

The Wait Is Almost Over
I just finished reading Official XBox Magazine’s review of Halo 2. Do I really have to wait 7 more days to get my hands on a copy of it? I’ve never wanted to play a game more in my life and I’m not even that big of a gamer! The original Halo sold over 4 million copies around the world. I can only imagine how many fans will buy this one. (...)

Star Wars Battlefront
After all of the hype I had heard/read about Star Wars Battlefront, I’m very disappointed. The game is pretty weak IMHO. All you do is run around shooting the enemy and try not to shoot the dumbasses on your team who keep running in your line of fire. And then you do it again. And again. What kind of a Star Wars game doesn’t let you use THE FORCE or a lightsaber? (...)

New Purchases
I haven’t been to Best Buy in a few weeks so I stopped by today to pick up the newly released Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. I also couldn’t resist grabbing Star Wars Battlefront for XBOX after hearing a few friends talk about how awesome it is supposed to be. A simple trip ended up costing me $100. I figured it will be a nice reward for getting the new website done this week. (...)

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
I had never thought too much of these type of games, but after playing it this past weekend and beating the co-op mode in 2 sittings with Jere, I was impressed. On Saturday night we were up until 6 a.m. before we decided we better get some sleep! It would have taken much longer to beat had I not been killing everyone, making up for Jere’s lack of kills. XBOX Price Drop
Microsoft has dropped the price of the XBOX again. Now it’s down to $149.99, compared to $299.99 when it was first released a few years ago. Looking at Best Buy’s website, the PS2 hasn’t dropped their price, but I imagine they will soon follow. (...)

Buy And Sell
During the break in TV coverage of the NCAA tournament I ran downtown to take care of a few things. I traded in 2 XBOX games, Rainbox Six 3 and SSX 3. Halo 2 Update
Bungie has finally released some details about the much anticipated sequel to Halo, which in my opinion is the greatest game ever created for any console. Halo 2 will ship in Fall, 2004. Please make a note of it. Read the full release. They have also released the first ever multiplayer screenshot from Halo 2 and it looks SWEET! Now I’m all excited just thinking about it. (...)
